Uzbekistan has been named one of the world’s leading destinations for solo travelers, ranking fifth in the 2026 Solo Travel Index compiled by international travel platform Much Better Adventures.
The ranking evaluated 26 countries, placing Uzbekistan alongside established destinations such as Italy, Japan and Portugal.
Experts assessed destinations based on several factors, including booking trends, traveller experiences, safety, visa accessibility, food costs and biodiversity.
Much Better Adventures highlighted Uzbekistan’s recent decision to introduce 30-day visa-free entry for U.S. citizens, saying the change has contributed to growing interest in the country.
The platform also pointed to Uzbekistan’s relatively uncrowded tourism environment, established tourist infrastructure and opportunities for outdoor travel.
The ranking particularly highlighted Uzbekistan’s potential for adventure and active tourism.
Travellers can explore the Nuratau Mountains through established hiking routes, visit rural villages and stay in traditional yurts. Routes across the Kyzyl-Kum steppe also offer access to Lake Aydarkul.
At the same time, Uzbekistan’s historic cities remain a major attraction. Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva showcase the country’s cultural heritage and centuries-old role as a crossroads along the Great Silk Road.
The recognition places Uzbekistan among a small group of leading solo-travel destinations and highlights the country’s growing appeal beyond traditional cultural tourism.
