Iran and Russia reject military solutions to regional issues

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that both Iran and Russia maintain that there are no military solutions to the current regional issues and these issues must be solved through diplomatic and political channels.

Araghchi made the remarks at a joint press conference with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after their meeting in Tehran.

“We know that this insecure situation is a direct consequence of the military aggression launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The war and economic blockade launched by the United States and Israel are the main reasons for the insecurity in our region,” he said.

IRGC warns of new targets

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned Monday that it would unveil new targets and weapons, drawing attention to major undersea internet cables crossing the Strait of Hormuz amid tensions with the United States.

“Seven major internet cables run beneath the Strait of Hormuz,” said IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi, claiming that all internet and commercial data traffic passed through them.

“We just want them to know that new targets will be unveiled. New weapons will be unveiled,” he added.

Mohebbi made the remarks during a ceremony at Tehran’s Sacred Defense Museum, the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported.

He also vowed to drive what he called the remnants of U.S. power out of the region.
