Pakistan army kills 30 militants in major operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the country faces its deadliest year of terror attacks in nearly a decade.
The Pakistan army announced on Saturday that it had killed at least 30 suspected militants during a series of security operations in the northwest. The operations took place in the Karak, Lakki Marwat, and Khyber districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan.
According to the military, 18 militants were killed in Lakki Marwat, eight in Karak, and four in Khyber. Six others were injured during the raids.
Weapons and ammunition were seized from the militants, who were said to have been involved in multiple terror attacks targeting security forces and civilians in the region.
Pakistan experienced a sharp increase in attacks in 2024, with a 40% rise compared to the previous year. The country recorded 444 attacks, resulting in the deaths of 685 security personnel and 927 civilians, making it the deadliest year in nine years, according to the Center for Research and Security Studies.
