Asaad al-Shaibani calls Israel's attack on Beit Jinn 'treacherous assault’ on civilians that threatens regional peace and security.
Syria’s foreign minister called on Friday, for the UN and Arab and Islamic nations to take action against Israel’s repeated attacks on its territory, condemning the strike on the town of Beit Jinn near Damascus as a deliberate assault on civilians.
On the US social media platform X, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani described the attack as a “treacherous Israeli assault,” stating it “deliberately targeted innocent civilians” and warning that continued aggression threatens regional peace and security.
He added that the ongoing strikes require “a firm international response,” emphasising that silence from the international community “only emboldens the aggressor to commit further crimes against civilians.”
Al-Shaibani urged the UN, the Security Council, and all Arab and Islamic nations to “shoulder their responsibilities” and confront Israel’s repeated attacks.
Casualties and Military Claims
At least 13 people were killed, including women and children, and 24 others wounded early Friday in Israel’s attack on Beit Jinn and the connecting road in rural areas around Damascus, according to Syrian state media.
The Israeli army said six of its soldiers were injured, three in critical condition, during the operation. It claimed to have detained members of the “Jaama Islamiya,” alleging that they “operated in the area of Beit Jinn in southern Syria and advanced attacks against Israeli civilians.”
