Tajikistan has proposed a joint investment fund with Italy to boost regional development across Central Asia.
During the first Central Asia–Italy summit in Astana, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon proposed creating a Central Asia–Italy investment fund in partnership with Italy’s export credit agency (SACE) and major Italian firms.
The fund would support regional investments aligned with each country’s strengths. Rahmon invited Italian businesses to invest in Tajikistan’s key sectors—hydropower, mining, agriculture, textiles, and construction materials—and praised existing cooperation in the textile industry. He also emphasized enhancing regional transport infrastructure, climate action, and security collaboration, highlighting Tajikistan’s commitment to expanding ties with Italy.
