Indonesia is targeting an increase in renewable energy production to 42% of its energy mix by 2040, while reducing its dependency on coal power plants to 33%, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said.
Indonesia would need investment of $235 billion to achieve the goal, as the country needed to build renewable energy plants with 75 gigawatt capacity and 70,000 kilometres (43,500 miles) of transmission lines, Airlangga said in a statement issued late on Wednesday.
