U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday he was speaking with the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia to press for a ceasefire as border fighting entered its third day.

Trump wrote on his social media platform that he had finished a call with Cambodia and would call back after hearing from Thailand. He said he was trying to simplify a complex situation.

Border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia have escalated into a deadly conflict over disputed territory near the Preah Vihear temple, leaving dozens dead and forcing tens of thousands to flee. Fighting erupted after a landmine incident on July 23 and has since involved artillery, rockets and airstrikes.

Cambodia has called for an immediate ceasefire and sought UN intervention, while Thailand has resisted third‑party mediation, insisting on bilateral talks. The violence has heightened regional concerns, prompting U.S. President Donald Trump to speak with both countries’ leaders in an effort to halt the fighting.
