Pasifik Eurasia and China boost Middle Corridor with new rail deal

A new rail agreement between Pasifik Eurasia and a China Railway subsidiary is set to strengthen the Middle Corridor trade route, offering a faster and cheaper alternative to shipments via Russia.

Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik has signed a strategic agreement with a subsidiary of China Railway to launch cargo train services through the Middle Corridor, connecting China to Europe via Türkiye while bypassing Russia. Initially, ten train services will run under the partnership, with plans to expand to 1,000 annually.

The Middle Corridor—linking China with Europe through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye—has gained traction as a Western-backed alternative to the northern route through Russia. The new rail services are expected to significantly boost freight volume along this corridor.

Transit time will also be shortened from an average of 40–53 days via Russia to 25–35 days using the Middle Corridor, further enhancing its appeal for trade between China and Europe.
