The Agreement between the Governments of Azerbaijan and the Maldives, which exempts holders of diplomatic, service, and official passports from visa requirements, officially takes effect on June 18, 2025.
Signed on November 15, 2024, during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Maldives’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Khaleel, on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, the agreement was later discussed and adopted by Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis on December 27, 2024, and approved by the President of Azerbaijan.
This agreement aims to strengthen and enhance the friendly relations between the two countries by easing the movement of their nationals holding diplomatic, service, and official passports.
Under the agreement, nationals of both countries with valid diplomatic, service, or official passports can enter, transit through, leave, and stay in each other's territories for up to 90 days without requiring a visa.
