The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, warning that escalating drone warfare and attacks on civilian infrastructure are deepening the country's already devastating humanitarian crisis.
More than six million people have been displaced within Sudan, while another 4.5 million have fled the country since fighting erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk warned that civilians face an imminent risk of further attacks as fighting intensifies in Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur.
Türk called for an immediate end to hostilities, an end to foreign involvement in the conflict, and a return to civilian-led rule.
The warning comes as a UN fact-finding mission has documented the increasing use of long-range drones by both the SAF and RSF, enabling both sides to strike targets far beyond traditional front lines.
