A bridge collapse in the Vygonichsky district of Russia’s Bryansk region, near the Ukrainian border, caused a train derailment and a traffic accident early Sunday, killing at least seven people and leaving 30 injured, according to emergency services.
Among the 30 injured, two children are hospitalized, including an infant aged 5 to 6 months who remains in critical condition. Moscow Railways attributed the derailment to “unauthorized interference” with transport operations.
Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz confirmed on Telegram that a bridge collapsed onto railway tracks, causing passenger train No. 86—traveling from Klimovo to Moscow—to derail.
The accident occurred at 22:44 on the single-track section between Pilshino and Vygonichi. According to the Transport Investigative Committee, debris from the collapsed road bridge fell onto the train passing underneath.

All train passengers are being moved to a temporary accommodation center, with around 180 personnel and 60 units of equipment from Russia’s Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) involved in managing the aftermath.
