A powerful 6.3‑magnitude quake rattled Indonesia’s remote Talaud Islands on Tuesday afternoon, shaking buildings as far away as the southern Philippines but causing no immediate injuries or damage.

A magnitude‑6.3 earthquake struck Indonesia’s Talaud Islands on Tuesday, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GEOFON) reported. The tremor occurred at 17:17 Jakarta time (10:17 GMT) at a depth of about 128 kilometres (79.5 miles). The U.S. Geological Survey recorded it slightly lower at magnitude 6.2, locating the epicentre roughly 269 kilometres (161 miles) southeast of Pondaguitan in the Philippines. There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
