Police in Pakistan's Attock district fired tear gas on Monday, 25 November, during clashes with supporters of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Protesters, led by his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, were marching towards Islamabad to demand his release.
Highways to the capital were blocked as demonstrators planned to gather near the parliament. Local PTI member Ifran Saleem, speaking from the Gazi Barotha Canal Bridge in Attock, stated their resolve to challenge the government’s oppressive policies.
The march, which Khan called the "final call", is part of ongoing efforts by PTI to secure his release since his imprisonment in August last year.
