Germany to deliver two Patriot systems to Ukraine in deal with U.S.

Germany announced on Friday it will send two more Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine, following a deal with the United States that ensures Berlin will be prioritised for receiving the latest replacements.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said the agreement allows Germany to supply Ukraine with additional launchers now, followed by system components in the coming months, while securing expedited deliveries of new U.S.-made Patriots funded by Berlin.

The move comes as Ukraine faces increasing aerial attacks from Russia this summer, with Patriot systems playing a key role in intercepting ballistic missiles.

Germany has already supplied three Patriot units to Ukraine and confirmed that the new deliveries will not impact its NATO defence commitments.
