An Israeli airstrike has damaged Gaza City’s Al-Ahli hospital, the only facility still operating in the city.
An Israeli airstrike hit parts of a hospital in Gaza City early Sunday, according to the territory’s civil defence agency, as Israel advanced in southern Gaza and announced plans to widen its military offensive.
There were no reported casualties from the strike, and the Israeli military said it is investigating the incident.
The civil defence agency in Hamas-run Gaza said the air force targeted a building at Al-Ahli hospital shortly after midnight.
A local journalist reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had called a doctor at the hospital to issue an evacuation warning.
Al-Ahli, once a small medical facility, is now the only functioning hospital in Gaza City after the destruction of the Al-Shifa medical complex and other hospitals in the north.
The same hospital was previously struck in October 2023, in an attack that killed hundreds.
