Palestinian officials say Salah al-Bardaweel, a senior political leader in Hamas, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
The strike reportedly killed both Bardaweel and his wife while they were praying. Hamas has accused Israel of assassinating Bardaweel, though Israeli officials have not commented publicly.
Israel’s military resumed major strikes on Gaza on Tuesday, abandoning a ceasefire agreement that had begun on January 19 and lasted nearly two months.
According to Palestinian authorities, 32 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours across various parts of the Gaza Strip.
