Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Wednesday that one of the largest prisoner of war (POW) swaps between Ukraine and Russia has taken place.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy announced the return of 175 Ukrainian detainees from Russian captivity. Additionally, 22 more individuals were brought back through “measures beyond exchanges,” marking a significant step in efforts to reunite prisoners with their families amid ongoing tensions between the two nations.
The exchange highlights the continued importance of humanitarian negotiations as both sides seek to address the impact of the war on civilians and military personnel. Zelenskyy’s statement underscored the scale of the swap, emphasizing its significance in the broader context of the conflict.
