Russia and Ukraine traded large-scale overnight attacks targeting energy, industrial and military facilities on Saturday, with a three-month-old baby killed and 11 people injured in a Russian drone strike on a residential building in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said the baby was killed and 11 people were injured after a Russian drone struck a multi-storey residential building in the city of Marhanets.
Five others were injured in Zaporizhzhia, where Governor Ivan Fedorov said Russian drones targeted a shopping centre and an industrial facility.
In the Odesa region, Governor Oleh Kiper said strikes hit the grounds of a shoe factory, damaging warehouses and a canteen and causing fires. No casualties were reported.
Ukraine’s Air Force said it intercepted 124 of 152 Russian drones launched overnight.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces targeted facilities supporting the Ukrainian military at the ports of Pivdennyi, Odesa and Izmail, including warehouses and a patrol boat.
Ukraine targets sites across Russia
Russia, meanwhile, said its air defences intercepted 598 Ukrainian drones across 19 regions, as well as over Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
In Russia’s Samara region, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said an industrial facility was struck, while local authorities reported damage and injuries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the target was the Progress Center, a major enterprise linked to Russian space agency Roscosmos, and said Flamingo missiles were used.
He also said Ukrainian forces struck the Savasleyka air base in the Nizhny Novgorod region and damaged an oil facility in Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region. Moscow has not commented on those claims.
Both Russia and Ukraine have increasingly targeted each other’s energy, logistics and industrial infrastructure as the war continues.
