A Ukrainian strike has damaged a school building in a Russian-controlled area of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, according to local authorities cited by the TASS news agency. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Earlier reports also said that six people were wounded in Russian air strikes across Ukraine overnight, local authorities said, as air raid alerts were issued in Kyiv in the early hours of Tuesday (23 June), urging residents to take shelter.
In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, two people sought medical help after Russian strikes, according to Governor Ivan Fedorov.
Emergency services said three more people were wounded in the northeastern Sumy region, while a drone attack on Kharkiv injured one woman, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
Kyiv authorities separately issued an air raid alert overnight as Russian attacks continued to target multiple regions.
The battlefield reports could not be independently verified.
Ukraine has faced sustained aerial attacks in recent months, with drones and missiles regularly targeting cities and infrastructure far from the front lines.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously warned that Russia is preparing larger-scale strikes, while urging continued Western support and faster integration into the European Union.
Ukraine’s military said it struck a missile electronics production facility in Russia’s Voronezh region on Monday, while local authorities reported five people were killed and dozens injured in the attack.
The Ukrainian General Staff said it used air-launched cruise missiles to hit what it described as a “critical component” of Russia’s defence industry in the city of Voronezh, less than 200 km from the Ukrainian border.
Ukraine said the targeted facility produced electronics used in Russian missiles, including components for the Iskander tactical missile system.
Russian regional governor Alexander Gusev said the main target was an industrial enterprise in the city’s left-bank district, adding that five people were killed and several dozen others sought medical assistance.
He said 10 apartment buildings and six private homes were damaged in the attack.
Separately, Russia’s defence ministry said strategic Tu-160 bombers conducted a 16-hour flight over the Barents Sea and Norwegian Sea, including air-to-air refuelling drills.
The ministry described the mission as routine and said it was escorted by MiG-31 fighter jets, with foreign aircraft shadowing parts of the flight. It did not specify which countries were involved.
The area lies close to NATO member states Norway and Finland, where Russian military activity is closely monitored amid heightened regional tensions.
