Three women were injured on Friday after being stabbed by a man on Line 3 of the Paris metro, local authorities reported.

The assaults occurred at three stations along the line connecting the Bagnolet and Levallois-Perret communes, including République, Arts et Métiers, and Opéra stations. The victims sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.

Police later arrested a suspect at his home in the Paris region. According to authorities, CCTV footage and mobile phone geolocation data were used to identify and locate the individual, reportedly born in 2000 and of Malian origin.

Investigators have ruled out a terrorist motive, and the attack is believed to have been carried out by a psychologically unstable individual.

Public transport authorities said firefighters and police responded quickly, and additional security personnel were deployed to the affected metro line.

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
