Belgium strengthens ties with Türkiye, marking 60 years of cooperation. Support for EU accession, trade growth, Syria’s reconstruction, and a call for peace in Israel-Palestine.
Belgium's Foreign Minister, Bernard Quintin, emphasized Türkiye as one of Belgium's key partners, highlighting the role of the Turkish-origin community in strengthening bilateral relations.
He noted the 60th anniversary of the Türkiye-Belgium Labor Agreement, celebrating the integration of Turkish Belgians into the country's society and politics.
Quintin highlighted trade between Brussels and Ankara, reaching €12 billion, and expressed Belgium’s continued support for Türkiye’s EU accession process.
Regarding Syria, he reiterated support for its new government, focusing on territorial integrity, minority rights, and refugees' voluntary return.
On the Israel-Palestine conflict, Quintin called for an end to violence and the release of hostages, urging both parties to work toward a two-state solution. He also affirmed Belgium's commitment to enforcing international court rulings regarding Israel’s actions in Gaza.
