At least 22 Palestinians were killed Saturday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting homes and a civilian vehicle across several areas of the Gaza Strip, marking a new violation of the ceasefire that has been in place since October 10.
Civil Defense says women, children among those killed in multiple attacks that violated cease-fire in place since 10 October.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said women, children, and elderly people were among the victims, with some attacks destroying entire buildings.
“Five people were killed and others wounded after an Israeli drone strike targeted a civilian vehicle near the Abbas Junction in western Gaza City,” Bassal said.
In the same city, four Palestinians were killed when a strike hit a home on al-Labbabidi Street. Two more were killed near the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque in western Deir al-Balah, while three died when a home next to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat refugee camp was struck. Seven Palestinians were also killed in Camp 2 in Nuseirat after an airstrike hit a residential building. Bassal did not provide details on additional fatalities.
Israeli forces also shot and injured three Palestinians near al-Bureij in central Gaza and Jabalia in the north, medics said. The Israeli army stated it had “eliminated” a gunman who allegedly crossed the yellow line.
At dawn, Israeli forces carried out additional strikes in eastern Rafah, Khan Younis, al-Bureij, Deir al-Balah, and neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City, including Tuffah and Shujaiya. The military detonated booby-trapped vehicles and targeted residential buildings in areas under Israeli control, witnesses said.
Since October 2023, Israeli operations have killed nearly 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, injured more than 170,800, and left much of the enclave in ruins. The October 10 ceasefire temporarily halted large-scale attacks, but recent strikes show a resumption of hostilities in and around the yellow line.
