The Trump administration has approved its first U.S. weapons aid packages for Ukraine under a new mechanism that allows arms from U.S. stockpiles to be funded by NATO allies, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The shipments could move to Kyiv soon as Washington resumes arms deliveries to Ukraine under the agreement, the sources said.

Undersecretary of Defence for Policy Elbridge Colby has signed off on up to two $500 million shipments under the new system, known as the Priority Ukraine Requirements List, or PURL.

The mechanism was developed jointly by the U.S. and its allies to provide Ukraine with weapons more quickly while allowing NATO countries to cover the cost.
