Alexei Likhachev, head of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, said on Friday that the company was prepared to hold discussions with U.S. firm Westinghouse regarding nuclear fuel at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia power plant, according to RIA news agency.

In June, Moscow requested the UN nuclear watchdog to mediate with Washington over how to handle U.S. nuclear fuel stored at the Russian-controlled facility.

Likhachev noted that Westinghouse and U.S. energy officials had previously raised concerns over intellectual property rights in relation to the fuel issue.
