Armed bandits stormed a mosque in northern Nigeria’s Katsina state during morning prayers, leaving dozens dead and many injured.
At least 27 worshippers lost their lives and several others were wounded on Tuesday when gunmen attacked a mosque in Katsina state, northern Nigeria.
The assailants opened fire as Muslims gathered for morning prayers in the remote village of Unguwan Mantau, Malumfashi area, according to residents and local officials.
The state’s commissioner, Nasir Mu’azu, said the army and police have deployed in the area of Unguwan Mantau to prevent further attacks, adding that gunmen often hide among the crops in farms during the rainy season to carry out assaults on communities.
