Powerful Earthquake Strikes Alaska

A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has struck the Alaska Peninsula on Wednesday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.

Although initial reports hinted at a possible tsunami warning, the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Centre later confirmed that there is no tsunami warning, advisory, watch, or threat associated with the quake.

Local authorities continue to monitor the situation, but no significant damage or casualties have been reported so far.
