The Kremlin says President Donald Trump’s recent comments, including threats of sanctions and military support to Ukraine, are serious and directly aimed at President Vladimir Putin.
Trump recently pledged new U.S. weapons for Ukraine and warned that countries buying Russian exports could face sanctions unless Moscow agrees to a peace deal. He also expressed disappointment in President Vladimir Putin, “I'm disappointed in him, but I'm not done with him.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that some of Trump’s statements were personally directed at Putin and emphasized the need for time to assess the implications.
Referring to the new arms deliveries, Peskov said, "Decisions which are being made in Washington, in NATO countries, and squarely in Brussels, are perceived by the Ukrainian side not as a signal for peace, but as a signal to continue the war."
He added that Russia remains open to direct talks with Ukraine and is waiting for Kyiv’s response.
