Iran bans UN nuclear chief and blocks camera access at nuclear sites

Iran has barred the UN nuclear watchdog’s chief from entering the country and suspended camera installations at its nuclear facilities, escalating tensions over transparency following recent military clashes.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced Saturday that Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will no longer be allowed to enter the country. Additionally, Iran will prohibit the agency from installing surveillance cameras at its nuclear sites.

The decision, reported by the state-run IRNA, comes amid rising friction between Tehran and the IAEA over nuclear monitoring access. It follows military confrontations involving Israel and the U.S., which have heightened scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear activities.

Earlier this week, Iran’s parliament approved a law suspending cooperation with the agency, limiting oversight at nuclear facilities.
