Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan discuss partnership and regional security

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov discussed bilateral partnership and regional security on the sidelines of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Istanbul.

During the meeting at the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the ministers reviewed cooperation in political, economic, transport and communications, and humanitarian fields, as well as regional and global security issues.

The two sides noted the potential for deepening cooperation in multilateral formats, including the UN, OIC, Non-Aligned Movement, Organization of Turkic States, Economic Cooperation Organization, and CICA.

They also exchanged views on recent regional developments, expressing concern over escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly the Israel–Iran conflict.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan cooperation and discussed other topics of mutual interest.
