Azerbaijan has been officially announced as the host country for World Environment Day in 2026 during a UNEP event held on South Korea’s Jeju Island.
An official event marking World Environment Day took place on South Korea’s Jeju Island. The annual gathering, organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), brought together global environmental leaders and policymakers.
The Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by a high-level delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources. The Azerbaijani delegation also included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in South Korea.
During the event, Azerbaijan was formally announced as the host country for World Environment Day in 2026. The announcement highlights the country’s growing role in global environmental dialogue and its commitment to sustainable development.
Officials from the UNEP praised Azerbaijan’s initiatives in environmental protection and its recent efforts to promote green growth and climate resilience.
