The 7th Ethnosport Culture Festival kicked off in Istanbul with Azerbaijan’s 100-member team and famed Karabakh horses drawing major attention.
The 7th Ethnosport Culture Festival opened on May 22 in Istanbul, bringing together more than 1,000 athletes from 35 countries in a celebration of ancestral sports, cultural traditions, and family values.
Azerbaijan is being represented by a 100-member delegation from the State Border Service, organized in coordination with the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation. Among the highlights of the delegation are 20 renowned Karabakh horses, showcasing one of the nation’s most cherished symbols of heritage.
Set up at the festival grounds at Atatürk Airport, the Azerbaijani tent presents the country’s rich cultural legacy with traditional carpets, kelaghayis (silk headscarves), books, and handmade crafts. The tent attracted over a thousand visitors on the opening day alone, offering an immersive experience into Azerbaijani identity.
Running through May 25, the festival will host six live performances by the Karabakh horses. Visitors will also enjoy a variety of traditional competitions, including mounted archery, belt wrestling, and historical games like Mangala and 19 Taş.
