Azerbaijan’s AERA and Moldova’s ANRE signed a memorandum to strengthen cooperation in energy regulation and regional resilience.
During an official visit by the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova (ANRE), led by General Director Alexei Taran, the Energy Regulatory Agency of Azerbaijan (AERA) hosted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering closer cooperation in the field of energy regulation.
The MoU was signed by Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of AERA, and Alexei Taran, General Director of ANRE. This agreement marks a strategic step toward establishing direct dialogue and facilitating collaboration on both bilateral and regional energy market regulation.
Under the memorandum, both sides committed to exchanging information more effectively - especially during emergencies impacting the regional energy market - and to organizing joint activities, including seminars and expert meetings. These efforts are intended to support the development and implementation of regulatory reforms based on globally recognized best practices.
The visit also included in-depth discussions on key issues such as gas market monitoring, the integration of renewable energy into national grids, and strategies to enhance energy system resilience in the face of growing challenges.
Both agencies expressed confidence that the MoU would lay the groundwork for long-term collaboration, contributing to a more stable, interconnected, and sustainable regional energy environment.
