CIS security chiefs meet in Dushanbe to strengthen cooperation

A meeting of the security agencies of the CIS member states took place on May 16th in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, Chief of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, participated in the 56th meeting of the Council of heads of security and special service agencies of the CIS countries.

Before the meeting began, the heads of delegations from the CIS member states were received by Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon.

The main focus of the discussions was the importance of a united effort against international terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybercrime, religious extremism, radicalism, and illicit drug trafficking within the CIS. Participants emphasized the need for effective information exchange between security agencies to promptly neutralize external threats to the region.

It was stressed that to meet the challenges of the modern era, all resources should be mobilized, and agencies must use their forces and means efficiently to prevent situations that threaten regional security.

The meeting included a broad exchange of views on future cooperation strategies and the tasks ahead for the special services of the CIS countries.
