Azerbaijan and Algeria held their second round of political consultations in Algiers on Monday, led by Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Algeria’s Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Lounes Magramane.
The talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations in politics, trade, and energy, particularly in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. Both sides discussed cooperation within multilateral organizations such as the UN, OIC, and NAM, and highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in hosting the 2026 Islamic Summit.
Regional issues, including Azerbaijan’s post-conflict efforts and relations with Armenia, were also addressed. The visit included a meeting with Algeria’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, where both parties agreed on the importance of boosting economic ties.
Rafiyev also toured the National Museum of Moudjahid, learning about Algeria’s colonial resistance.
