Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with a delegation led by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is in Yerevan on an official visit.
Prime Minister Pashinyan welcomed Minister Araghchi’s visit, wishing him success in his new role and expressing gratitude for his contributions to the consistent development of Armenia-Iran relations during the previous period.
Pashinyan emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is successfully progressing, with one of its key factors being the mutual trust that has been established. He also noted that the relationship between Armenia and Iran is based on natural interests, which provides a solid foundation and guarantee for the further development and expansion of ties.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi thanked Prime Minister Pashinyan for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He highlighted that Armenia and Iran’s relations are rooted in historical, economic, and cultural ties, and that they hold strategic importance. According to Araghchi, recent developments emphasize the increasing importance of bilateral cooperation.
Araghchi also reaffirmed Iran's continued support for Armenia’s territorial integrity and stressed the importance of respecting the inviolability of borders in the region.
The discussions also covered the implementation of new projects in the fields of economy, infrastructure, and energy between Armenia and Iran. The organization of high-level bilateral visits was also prioritized.
Prime Minister Pashinyan reaffirmed the Armenian government’s commitment to consistently advancing the peace agenda. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed Iran's support for the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stating that it would contribute to ensuring stability in the region.
Finally, Prime Minister Pashinyan requested that his warm greetings be conveyed to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
