A new platform uniting Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) from the Member Countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was launched in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan, on Tuesday, with MP Azer Allahveranov elected as its chairman.
The initiative was announced during the Solidarity Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations from the Member Countries of the Organization of Turkic States.
As the current rotating chair of the Organization of Turkic States, Azerbaijan will lead the Platform. NGOs from eight countries have joined the new platform.
The Solidarity Forum of NGOs from member states of the Organization of Turkic States kicked off in Baku on Monday. The forum brings together more than 500 civil society representatives from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Hungary, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The event features two panel discussions: “The Zangezur Corridor: A Bridge Connecting the Turkic World” and the “First Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan NGO Cooperation Forum.” Similar bilateral cooperation events with other OTS member states are planned.
Additional panels will highlight Azerbaijan’s reconstruction work and preparations for the 13th World Urban Forum in 2026. The event will conclude with site visits in Nakhchivan and the adoption of a joint declaration.
