Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed his desire for the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Armenia highlighting the "significant" trade and business ties between the two countries.

Armenia’s prime minister told Turkish media outlets in Yerevan that representatives of Türkiye and Armenia maintain constant contact, highlighting the presence of a "very direct conversation" between the two nations.

"Today, there is a very direct dialogue between Armenia and Türkiye, which marks a significant shift compared to previous periods in our relations. Diplomatic representatives from both countries are in continuous direct contact," Anadoly agency reported citing Pahinyan.

While the July 2022 agreement on opening the land border for third-country citizens has not led to significant progress in bilateral relations, both sides now have "a better understanding" of the challenges and differing perspectives. They view this as a positive development, he added.

Armenian prime minister stated that his country perceives Türkiye as the coutry advocating for stability in the South Caucasus.

"Our understanding is that Türkiye, referring to their messages, supports stability in the South Caucasus. We see that Türkiye, both at the presidential and foreign ministerial levels, backs the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.
