The Middle Corridor continues to expand as new member companies join the route, following joint efforts by Türkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan to develop the corridor.
This was stated by Ufuk Yalçın, General Director and Chairman of the Board of Türkiye’s State Railways (TCDD Taşımacılık), during a press briefing in Baku.
According to him, the Middle Corridor currently serves as the shortest and safest route for freight transportation between China and Europe. "The corridor ensures the fastest and most reliable transportation of goods produced in China to Europe and vice versa," Yalçın emphasized.
He also noted that the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) International Association now has more than 20 members.
"As Türkiye, we are consulting with Azerbaijan to strengthen the Middle Corridor. Our goal is to increase freight transportation along the corridor to 2.5 million tons by 2025. This year, we plan to transport approximately 96,000 containers via the Middle Corridor," Yalçın stated.
He further highlighted that, as a result of recent efforts, an official TITR representative office has been established in China. "In 2025 and beyond, we aim to continue developing the Middle Corridor and further increase freight transportation between the West and the East, in addition to the North-South corridors as an alternative route," he added.
