Civilians were killed on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine border on Saturday as drone and artillery attacks continued despite no sign of a slowdown in the fighting.

Russian officials said a Ukrainian drone struck a car in the Bryansk region near the border, killing two people. Authorities also reported two more deaths in the Russian-controlled Donetsk region after separate drone attacks on Horlivka and Makiivka.

In Ukraine, officials said Russian drone and artillery attacks killed one person and injured another near Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The town, which sits across the Dnipro River from the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, has come under repeated attack throughout the war.

Russia says more than 120 drones intercepted

Russia's Defence Ministry said its air defences shot down 124 Ukrainian drones over several regions between 8am and 8pm local time. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said dozens of drones heading towards the capital were intercepted during the day.

The latest attacks highlight the continuing threat to civilians living near the border as both sides press on with long-range drone strikes.
