Up to 30 tonnes of food will be delivered to Iran amidst ongoing hostilities with U.S. and Israel, following a phone converstation between the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian.
The vital supplies, which also include food products, water and medicines, are expected to arrive Iran by road to the city of Astara with Azerbaijani officials adding that the aid was already on the way.
10 tonnes of flour, 6 tonnes of rice, nearly two and a half tonnes of sugar, over four tons of drinking water and about 600 kilograms of tea are in the cargo.
The operation is being overseen by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations top Ministers Niyazi Rahimov and Gurban Sadigov reported to be accompanyng the cargo to its destination.
The aid comes as parts of Iran continue to be destroyed by joint U.S. and Iranian strikes which began early on 28 February.
