Six children among at least 16 killed in Pakistan's glue factory explosion

Six children were part of at least 16 people killed in a massive explosion which occurred in Faisalabad, Pakistan on Friday according to local media.

The explosion caused a building in the area to collapse and and widespread damage to multiple structures near the site of the blast.

Emergency personnel are currently at the site of the blast working to put out the fire while rescuing people trapped in the rubble of collapsed building. 

Local media quoting Faisalabad Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar say that a gas leak inside the factory's chemical warehouse was the cause of the explosion. 

The factory manager has been taken into custody while a search is ongoing for the factory owner who resportedly fled shortly after the incident. 

Footage seen by AnewZ show rescue workers digging people out from the rubble as various small fires continued raging in various parts of the area. 

Residential building near the factory were damaged in the blast as debris and furniture could be seen in the video strewn all over the ground. 

The number of people injured in the blast is currently unknown with Dawn News reporting that several injured people are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
