The liberation of Karabakh is not only a victory for Azerbaijan but for the entire Turkic world.
According to Azertag, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made this statement during a conversation with journalists accompanying him on his visit to Azerbaijan.
Speaking about his address at the military parade held to mark the fifth anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War, the Turkish head of state emphasised that today the positions of Ankara and Baku best embody the principle of “One nation, two states.”
He noted that during the war, Türkiye openly supported the just struggle of the Azerbaijani people.
President Erdoğan underlined that, thanks to the Shusha Declaration, Türkiye–Azerbaijan relations have reached the level of an alliance and are actively developing in all areas, including the implementation of concrete projects.
The Turkish leader noted that his visit provided an opportunity to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart and discuss bilateral relations.
The politician welcomed the steps taken in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and expressed satisfaction with the results of the August meeting in Washington.
“After more than thirty years of instability, a window of opportunity has opened for peace and stability in the South Caucasus. The swift completion of the peace process will allow Azerbaijan, the victorious country, to become the architect of peace in the region,” Erdogan said.
Erdoğan said that Türkiye continues to take steps to normalise relations with Armenia and is “synchronising its efforts with Azerbaijan.”
He added that Türkiye has made it clear to all participants in the dialogue that any infringement of Azerbaijan’s interests in this process is unacceptable.
Highlighting the active measures taken to rebuild the territories liberated from occupation, the Turkish leader said, “Today, under the leadership of my brother Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is taking large-scale steps towards the restoration of the region. Roads and tunnels are being built in various parts of Karabakh, agricultural projects are being implemented, and residential buildings are under construction. In this regard, we are taking all necessary steps to contribute to Azerbaijan’s efforts.”
President Erdoğan also praised Azerbaijan’s achievements under Ilham Aliyev’s leadership. “As a political leader who has closely followed developments during both the late Heydar Aliyev’s and Ilham Aliyev’s presidencies, I know very well what has happened, where and when. I sincerely congratulate Ilham Aliyev and his team.”
