The captain of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flight J2-8717, operating the Baku-Mineralnyye Vody route, returned to Baku airspace shortly after takeoff upon receiving a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) indicating that the airspace over Makhachkala was closed.
AZAL informed that the aircraft safely landed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport at 10:13 local time, The Azerbaijan State News Agency reports.
