President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed a Croatian delegation led by Gordan Jandroković, Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, marking his first official visit to Azerbaijan.
Jandroković said he was deeply impressed by the beauty of Baku and conveyed his congratulations to President Aliyev for his leadership and service to the Azerbaijani people.
He also commended Azerbaijan’s constructive role in advancing the peace process with Armenia, acknowledging the positive results achieved in Washington. The Speaker described relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia as being at a high level and highlighted the potential to strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. He pointed to the work of interparliamentary friendship groups and encouraged deeper engagement between parliamentary committees.
President Aliyev thanked Jandroković for his remarks and noted the historic significance of the recent agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He underlined Croatia’s continued support for Azerbaijan’s closer relations with the European Union and NATO, describing this as a solid foundation for future collaboration.
Both sides agreed that Azerbaijan and Croatia enjoy friendly and partner-based ties, with significant scope for cooperation in energy, tourism, investment, and other fields. They also discussed prospects for enhancing collaboration within international parliamentary organisations, reaffirming their shared commitment to dialogue and mutual understanding.
