President Zelenskyy extended his congratulations to the head of state on the achievements attained in advancing the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan, achieved with the support of U.S. President Donald Trump, and emphasised the historic significance of the meeting. President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and noted that the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan- in particular, the declaration and other documents signed in the presence of the U.S. president would contribute to ensuring lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. In this context, they noted the convening in Baku last month of the intergovernmental commission between the two countries, during which productive discussions were held on the development of economic and trade cooperation.
Both sides strongly condemned the deliberate air strikes carried out by Russia against oil storage facilities belonging to Azerbaijan’s SOCAR company and other Azerbaijani assets in Ukraine, as well as against a gas compressor station transporting Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine.
