At the 2025 Shusha Global Media Forum, AnewZ officially introduced its ‘Opinion’ section, a space for analysis rooted in the region, shaped by those who live it.
During a special side event at the Shusha Global Media Forum, AnewZ Deputy Editor-in-Chief Orkhan Amashov introduced a milestone in the channel’s evolution: the launch of the Opinion section on the AnewZ website.
“This section is not merely a repository of articles. It is the analytical core of our platform,” Amashov said. “We interpret the region from within. Not from a distance.”
The Opinion section will feature regular contributions from leading minds across the South Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and beyond — including analysts, policymakers, scholars, and regional observers. Some, such as Dr. Ali Akbar, Vlad Olteanu, and Nurbolat Nyshanbayev, are already familiar to AnewZ audiences. Others bring fresh perspectives shaped directly by lived realities.
Amashov stressed that this editorial space reflects AnewZ’s founding promise: to go beyond breaking news and bring clarity of thought to complex events.
“In a region shaped by shifting alliances, emerging corridors, and geopolitical recalibrations, the South Caucasus is not a footnote. It is a pivot point,” he said. “Our mission is to be the source of the best analysis about it.”
The launch was framed as part of AnewZ’s broader identity — a channel born just before COP29 in Baku, at a moment of regional and global transformation.
The session also featured the screening of 'Destination: Shusha, Azerbaijan' — a documentary exploring the cultural and geopolitical essence of Shusha.
“Shusha is more than a city,” Amashov remarked. “It is a cradle of culture, a fortress of memory, and a symbol of endurance.”
The film traces Shusha’s journey through war, sovereignty, and rebirth, reflecting its role not only in Azerbaijan’s national consciousness but also in the future of the South Caucasus.
By launching the Opinion section and premiering the Shusha documentary at the Forum, AnewZ reaffirms its editorial vision: to connect ideas with events, and people with place.
In an era of polarised narratives and remote analysis, this moment stands for something else — thought that rises from the terrain, not imposed from afar.
As Amashov concluded, “This is only the beginning.”
