A bilateral agreement between Türkiye and Qatar aimed at strengthening cooperation in global humanitarian assistance has officially come into effect this week, following ratification by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and its publication in Türkiye’s Official Gazette.
The “Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Humanitarian Assistance between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the State of Qatar” was signed in Ankara on 14 November 2024. It sets out a framework for coordinated and effective collaboration between the two countries in delivering aid to third countries in need.
Under the agreement, Türkiye and Qatar will work together to provide financial and technical assistance, deploy humanitarian personnel, establish and operate field hospitals, and support reconstruction efforts through joint projects.
The accord is expected to enhance both countries’ international humanitarian reach, particularly in crisis-affected or conflict-stricken regions. The agreement also signals a deepening of strategic partnership between Türkiye and Qatar in the field of humanitarian relief and post-crisis recovery.
