Four people have died after a small plane crash near London’s Southend Airport on 13 July. Essex Police confirmed that all the deceased were foreign nationals.
The incident occurred shortly before 16:00 local time on Sunday. A 12-metre 'Beech B200 Super King Air' aircraft crashed with an explosion shortly after take-off according to authorities.
Witnesses reported seeing the plane burst into flames and explode like a “fireball” immediately after leaving the runway.
Two pilots and two passengers on board lost their lives in the crash. The names of the deceased have not yet been released, and law enforcement agencies are continuing investigations to identify them.
The Civil Aviation Authority has imposed extensive air restrictions over the crash site. Following the incident, Southend Airport was closed, and all flights scheduled for 14 July were diverted to other airports.
The airport’s official website also said that all departures and arrivals on Monday were rerouted. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates.
