Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed a series of significant agreements on 2 July, focusing on agriculture, transport, trade, education, social protection, and environmental cooperation.
A formal document exchange ceremony between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan took place in Khiva on 2 July, with both nations’ leaders, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, participating.
The key agreements signed included a 'Practical Action Plan' on agriculture and food security for 2025-2027, a 'Protocol of Intent' for shipping and shipbuilding cooperation, and a trade action plan aiming to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion by 2030.
Other significant agreements included the 'Program of Industrial Cooperation' between both countries for 2025-2027, and a cooperation deal in science, vocational, and higher education.
Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov of Azerbaijan and Bakhtiyor Saidov of Uzbekistan also signed several agreements covering social protection, environmental protection, and the mutual recognition of customs institutions.
Additionally, protocols were established for sister city relationships between Sumgayit and Tashkent Province, Gabala and Navoi, and for improving services for children with special needs and vulnerable groups.
The documents highlight the strengthening ties between the two nations across multiple sectors, emphasizing long-term collaboration and strategic partnerships.
