As part of his official visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held separate meetings with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President of the National People’s Assembly Ibrahim Boughali.
The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations based on friendship and mutual respect. They expressed mutual interest in expanding political dialogue and enhancing cooperation across a wide range of fields, including economy, education, humanitarian affairs, energy, transport, agriculture, tourism, and science and technology.
Both parties highlighted the signing of the Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Algeria as a pivotal step toward advancing relations between the two nations.
They also underlined the importance of continued coordination within international and regional organisations, such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The Algerian side commended Azerbaijan’s initiatives during its chairmanship of various international platforms, noting their contribution to enhancing the country’s global profile.
In his discussions with Speaker Ibrahim Boughali, Minister Bayramov and the Algerian parliamentary leader reviewed the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda, emphasising the significance of interparliamentary relations, mutual visits, and friendship groups in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Chairman Boughali fondly recalled his participation in the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network in 2022 and the meetings held during the visit of Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova to Algeria. Both sides praised the ongoing cooperation between the two parliaments within international parliamentary organisations and their mutual support in multilateral platforms.
Minister Bayramov briefed both President Tebboune and Speaker Boughali on the history of Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan, the country’s vision for achieving lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, and the reconstruction and restoration work underway in the liberated territories.
The meetings concluded with an exchange of views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthening their strategic partnership and cooperation in diverse fields.
